We started Heritage Botanicals in the foothills of southern Colorado. Rena became an herbalist in 2005 after doing research to find more gentle and natural solutions to support her health. Rena experienced several health struggles starting in 2003 and was given heavy doses of antibiotics. The antibiotics doing what they do caused a lot of gut issues.
About the same time, James was dealing with frequent sinus infections and was also given heavy doses of antibiotics. As Rena began to find herbal alternatives to care for our family, we pretty much stopped going to traditional doctors.
Unless someone is acutely injured or on death’s door, we take care of all health issues at home. It is tremendously satisfying and empowering to know we can be mostly self-reliant. If Rena doesn’t have something on the shelf to treat a condition, she can create one in short order.
We set out to build an online store that would bring together the best of the herbal world, curating a selection of high-quality products that we use and believe in.
